In Partnership With
REACH only works because of the people who use, maintain, and run it in Langa.
Here’s who’s involved and what each partner does.
Langa Bicycle Hub
A community bicycle hub led by founder Mzikhona Mgedle. It repairs bicycles and wheelchairs, maintains the REACH stretcher using a manual written with our team, serves as the transport team, and runs community outreach.

MIT D-Lab & MassArt
MassArt industrial design students co-founded REACH. D-Lab design, development, and scale classes bring new student teams to the project each semester.

Shonaquip Social Enterprise
Shonaquip Social Enterprise (SSE) is a South African organisation transforming the future of disability inclusion through appropriate assistive technology, inclusive education, and family empowerment. As an advisory partner, the Shonaquip team has advised us on the design and on the usage data needed to show evidence of need.

Kheth’Impilo Wellness Centre
Langa’s community health workers. They run the dispatch system, respond to calls, and shaped the protocols for when and how the stretcher is used.

Tekano
Tekano is a non-profit organization built upon a commitment to the Bill of Rights enshrined in the Constitution of South Africa. Through our point of contact, Lebo Molete, we've been able to receive support from the Tekano Fellowship Program
